Geologic hazards include landslides, earthquakes, fault movement, ground settlement, cracking and sliding related to earthquake shaking and related hazards, erosion, sedimentation, and floods. All these hazards can potentially impact the works of man.
Many cities and counties now require a geologic hazards assessment for development, so that these hazards may be avoided or mitigated as part of the project design.
