The City of Fresno has been working towards a strategy to end homelessness. The objective is to reduce the number of homeless living in the streets. As of last official count there were 1,674 unsheltered homeless people in the City of Fresno. In 2020 and 2021, Krazan successfully provided environmental clearance to local partners for property purchase and HUD funding to house nearly 50 percent of the City of Fresno’s unsheltered population.

Krazan provided services guiding the properties through Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Asbestos and Lead Surveys, and National Environmental Policy Act Environmental Reviews, helping the Fresno Housing Authority and the City of Fresno in the environmental clearance for purchasing and HUD funding for 325 rooms in 2020.  These properties were enough to house 450 formerly homeless individuals.

Also, through our current efforts this year, we are working to provide environmental clearance for the purchase HUD funding for an additional 233 rooms.  At the current occupation ratio, these properties will be able to house approximately an additional 325 people.  Added all together, the projects will be able to house 750 formerly homeless people.

Some of the projects under this contract include:

  • Golden State Triage Center (formerly Parkside Inn) – 48 rooms
  • Journey Home (formerly Welcome Inn) – 80 rooms
  • Step Up On 99 (formerly Motel 99) – 99 rooms
  • Sun Lodge (formerly Days Inn) – 98 rooms
