CMT Lab Manager

We are currently seeking a qualified and motivated Laboratory Manager to join our team in Bakersfield, CA. This is a great opportunity for an experienced technician ready to take on a leadership role in a dynamic materials testing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the materials testing laboratory
• Perform and supervise lab testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, and Caltrans specifications
• Produce accurate documentation and maintain detailed Caltrans records
• Ensure compliance with AASHTO and DSA certification standards
• Manage and calibrate testing equipment, ensuring quality and safety
• Lead and mentor lab staff to ensure consistent, high-quality results
• Coordinate with field teams and project managers to support testing needs

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a lab tech in a construction material testing lab
• Proficient in Caltrans testing methods for soils, concrete, and asphalt
• ACI Certifications required, including:
• Concrete Strength Testing Technician
• Aggregate Testing Technician
• Caltrans JTCP certifications (or ability to obtain) is a plus, including HMA, Soils and Aggregates
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs
• Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions
• Must be able to stand, walk, and move on uneven terrain for extended periods
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable under company policy

Compensation: $35 – $40 per hour
