We are currently seeking a qualified and motivated Laboratory Manager to join our team in Bakersfield, CA. This is a great opportunity for an experienced technician ready to take on a leadership role in a dynamic materials testing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the materials testing laboratory
- Perform and supervise lab testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, and Caltrans specifications
- Produce accurate documentation and maintain detailed Caltrans records
- Ensure compliance with AASHTO and DSA certification standards
- Manage and calibrate testing equipment, ensuring quality and safety
- Lead and mentor lab staff to ensure consistent, high-quality results
- Coordinate with field teams and project managers to support testing needs
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a lab tech in a construction material testing lab
- Proficient in Caltrans testing methods for soils, concrete, and asphalt
- ACI Certifications required, including:
- Concrete Strength Testing Technician
- Aggregate Testing Technician
- Caltrans JTCP certifications (or ability to obtain) is a plus, including HMA, Soils and Aggregates
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move on uneven terrain for extended periods
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable under company policy

Compensation: $35 – $40 per hour
