Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing samples for analysis of soils, concrete and other media
  • Prepare reports and documentation
  • Operate mechanical equipment such as concrete compression testing machine, soil compaction equipment, aggregate mechanical sieving equipment, and asphalt testing apparatus

As an entry level Field Engineer you will conduct field and laboratory studies within the geotechnical and materials testing divisions. You will perform QA/QC field observations while work is in progress following design reports and documents, collecting samples using a gauge to determine moisture density content, and delivering samples for laboratory testing. During the testing and observation process, prepare accurate and detailed documentation and submit daily for review.

You will have the opportunity to progress into performing engineering calculations, analysis and report preparation. The Field Engineer will report directly to the Project or Branch Manager.

The candidate should at a minimum have a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. In addition, the candidate should have passed or is scheduled to take the Engineer in Training (EIT) examination.
